Spectacular, huge, almost operatic movie based on the events surrounding the politically necessary marriage of Henri IV with “Margot” and the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre (probably instigated by the mother of the bride) that began a few days later resulting in the deaths of thousands of protestants. Not a film for the squeamish due to it’s violence and some sexually explicit content.
